From the Board of Trustee of The Trust Companies

The Trust Board recognizes and acknowledges members of our Board, staff, community and policy holders who have been impacted in personal ways by the recent spate of horrific murders of Black people, including Rayshard Brooks, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery and many others named and unnamed. These acts of racial violence, anti-Blackness, and institutional racism have a long history and are deeply embedded in our society and disproportionately impact communities of color.

The Trust continues to engage in organizational self-reflection and commits itself to promoting anti-racist action in consideration of its operations, products and risk-management activities. We affirm that commitment with the promise to monitor and confront our own biases in the process of continuous growth. As an organization whose mission includes providing education and training programs, The Trust strives to model cultural humility, promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and is faithful to professional ethics, laws, and regulations.

We speak now because silence is unacceptable. We speak now because we are compelled by the forces of integrity, respect, dignity, and the human right to live without fear, threat, intimidation or marginalization. We speak now because we want to be recorded in history as publicly standing on the principles of justice during these times. We speak now because we want to hold ourselves accountable and be held accountable by our words and actions to value life over power, character over appearance, and humanity overall. We promise to continue to work in alignment with these principles.
